A before of the front landscape and a progress shot of pretty much what it looks like today. Two steps forward, one step back, am I right? Last week we were busy spreading 20 yards of turf builder to the font yard because sod is being delivered tomorrow! If you follow along over on Instagram you know how excited I am to get rid of all the mud, at least out front.
We will also be laying out our front beds this month. I want to get a few bushes planted ASAP and then do another planting this fall. We’re going to plant mostly perennials to keep the landscaping maintenance to a minimum. We’re currently researching a DIY brick herringbone front walk from the driveway to the font porch. Trying to get a feel for if this is something we can tackle ourselves or if we need to come up with a plan B.
Next year I would like to add concrete curbing to the borders of the lawn & beds. And the following year I’d like to add a lot of landscaping boulders to the front hillside and around the back. As you can tell we’ll have to do this in many stages… why is landscaping so spendy, even when you’re DIYing?! All in good time, I guess.
I will finally feel like I can spruce up our front porch once the sod is laid. This is the vibe I’m going for- casual, laid back & super comfy. I’m especially loving this outdoor daybed swing and this designer dupe conversation set. I picture us spending a lot of time out here, especially in late summer. Our deck faces south and gets a lot of afternoon sun and the front stays shadded. I want to try to get all of this done by the end of June. Just in time for our annual 4th of July BBQ, so stay tuned for lots of updates!
Can you please share if your cabinetry was installed on top of your floors? I want to install LVP, my cabinet maker is highly advancing me not to install cabinets on top of the floor. I read that most guarantees on LVP advice not to lay cabinets on top of floor due to expansion. I just feel that all the cuts around the cabinets is not going to give the the finish look I am after. Please advise. Thank you
Our cabinets were installed first, then our floors. We have a floating floor that moves/ expands & contracts with the seasons. If you install your cabinets on top they might interfere and cause buckling. Any gaps we had were covered with trim.
