Yesterday I brought out all the outdoor things in preparation for hosting Easter dinner. There is just something about revamping our outdoor spaces for spring. I grabbed a few pieces from Wayfair to bring some cozy to our deck. I loved this rug so much I bought another one– The boarder on it is such a classic look and its under $150 for an 8×10. It comes in more than 15 sizes though, so there’s one for every space! Below I’m sharing my formula for creating an in inviting & cozy outdoor space your family & friends can enjoy through the season.

Furniture

Obviously every outdoor space needs furniture, so I thought we’d start there. Look for peices that have removable, washable covers and thicker cushions for extra comfort. Depending on where you live also consider materials, like wood, metal, concrete and even plastic.

Layers of Decor

Adding in layers like rugs, pillows and throws adds a soft & cozy feeling. Consider adding a large basket to toss extra blankets into for cooler nights. I also like to consider lighting like candles, solar mini table lamps and or even a mini tabletop fire pit. All of these things make a space feel more inviting.

Hosting Essentials

If you’re anything like me you love being the hostess with the mostess. I found this side table that doubles as a cooler last summer and it’s been so convenient when we have guests over. I love that the top swivels so you can still use the tabletop. Other entertaining pieces to consider are dinnerware, serving trays, bug covers & wine chillers. I’ve linked a few below.

Greenery

Every space, outdoors and in, needs some greenery in my opinion. It softens a space while make it feel fresh at the same time. This year I’m letting myself off the hook and I’ve added in some faux plants to the pots that aren’t attached to the drip line. This frees me up to spend more time at the cabin. Mixing real and faux plants in the same space makes your faux plants look more real, try it!
