It’s been 4 months since I’ve tackled any kind of a project around here and I’m itching to get going on several, including the basement & Jack’s room, and each will come with more than a few DIYs. I made a bedroom moodboard to help both Jack and myself feel confident in our design choices. It’s been fun to see him get excited about his new space!
When we moved in we bought the kids beds and used old dressers & curtains and called it a win. We’ve been here two years this month & Jack’s room still looks like a frat. Those curtains… yikes! I’m embarrassed when people come over and want to see the house, frantically explaining I haven’t done anything in here yet. (Clearly! Haha!) But home really does take time, and I think it’s finally time to give this sweet boy the coolest room in the house.
A floor to ceiling wall treatment will be going up all the way around the room to give the space a custom feel. We’re still trying to decide if he wants it painted or if we’ll leave it white so the other elements in the room become the star of the show. If I’m feeling like the space just isn’t finished after its done, maybe we’ll add some beams too. Still absolutely obsessed with how our primary bedroom beams turned out!
Jack got hand-me-downs from the twins’ nursery that included the vintage rug I found at an estate sale, and an Ikea dresser I assembled & painted while I was 6 months pregnant with the twins. Even though the dresser is in great condition, Jack is requesting blue, so I think we’ll try repainting it & swapping the hardware to give it a fresh look.
I found a really great dupe of a the McGee & Co. Ainsworth Bed, I’m just waiting for it to restock. Cross all the fingers and toes for me here because I have my heart set on it. If it doesn’t restock soon I’ll probably do this bed instead, the price is amazing!
I plan on using Beddy’s bedding in here. Ben & Kate’s have held up great over the last year and a half and it makes it so easy for them to make their own bed. You can use code LINDSEY for 15% off.
Be sure to check out the before & after of Ben’s Bedroom for more boy bedroom inspo. A year later we still love it!
