When I started designing Jack’s bedroom I obviously wanted it to reflect everything he’s passionate about (sports, dark blue, and basically all boy). I also wanted it to flow seamlessly with the rest of the design choices in our home. We’re not quite done in here, but now that his bed has arrived it’s feeling a lot more finished. Before we dive in, lets take a moment to remember where we started and what it took to get here.
Yikes, amiright!? I cleared the room and got started on the board and batten. He said he wanted blue so after looking at samples for approximately 5 seconds I painted it Benjamin Moore Vermont Slate. Needless to say, I painted it again 2 days later in the color Blue Brush and we love it! Finally I felt like I could start making decisions on more finishes in the space, most importantly the star of the show, his bed! And oh my goodness, it’s a stunner!
I knew I wanted a bed that felt masculine, but also had some curves to it to balance all the straight lines happening in the space. A soon as I saw the Jackson on Kathy Kuo Home I knew it was the one. The mixed materials of the performance fabric head & footboard, the oak frame, and those curvy iron corners. It feels masculine and unique and casual– everything I was looking for! Jack loved it too, plus he thought it was pretty cool “they named it after him”.
The texture on the performance fabric is beautiful and I have peace of mind knowing it’s durable enough to withstand spills, stains, and wear. I am absolutely obsessed with the little iron feet. It’s a small detail, but it shows they really thought through the entire design.
Another huge bonus was that it was ready ship so Jack wouldn’t be sleeping with is mattress on the floor very long. This is the first time I’ve ever used white glove delivery and I cannot recommend it enough!! They unloaded the boxes & brought everything upstairs, assembled it and took all the packaging out with them. They even made his bed! 🙌
I’m still finishing up his space, and I can’t wait to show you more. Now that it’s here this little peek of Jack’s bed from the loft is giving me life. His room is feeling personalized and (almost) finished while still feeling like an extension of the rest of our home.
