One of my most requested design looks I get is for kid spaces. Oftentimes parents aren’t sure where to start or how to navigate creating a space that their kids love, but that they also don’t need to redecorate in 18 months. Today I’m sharing 2 mood boards that will give the space longevity and have just enough whimsy to keep it fun. And for an added bonus, its all from Amazon!
My biggest tip for designing kid spaces is to keep the color pallet on the neutral side. Yes, your little one can have a pink room, but keep it on the muted side. When you’re looking at color swatches, go for more brown than pink. Trust me. Once you get it on the wall it will be a grown up version they can grow into and not pepto bismol.
When it comes to decor, make it whimsy! I like to add buntings, inspiring sayings or pops of color with art. In addition, don’t forget their toys can be used as decor too. You want their room to be a place they can play freely and not filled with a bunch of things that are off limits.
Keep an eye out on the blog. I’m going to be doing a deep dive into kid spaces in the next few weeks. I’ll be sharing all my tips and tricks on creating elevated kid spaces you both love. In the meantime you can find more design tips here.
PS- Tell me which look you like more in the comments below! I’d love to hear what you think of either of these spaces. What look do you want to see next?
