I started buying coffee table books when we first decided to take the plunge and build our custom home. What began as looking for ideas and inspiration for our build, over the last 2 years I’ve unknowingly started a collection that has turned out to be much larger than I originally thought. It wasn’t until I started compiling them from every corner of our home that I realized just how many I have collected, and this isn’t even all of them!

Coffee table books are severely underrated in my opinion. They’re probably the most versatile piece of decor you can add to a space, shifting from consoles, to coffee tables to shelves, they’re functional, inspiring and often times a conversation starter. They also make the best gifts! Find out what the receivers hobbies or interests are and I guarantee there is a coffee table book on the subject.

1. Group them: Spreading 2-3 stacks across a console table is one of my favorite ways to display the books I read through often. I love how it creates an eye-catching moment.
2. Use them to add height: I like to stack books at varying heights to add interest to a flat surface. I usually top them with a decorative object, candle or small tray. It’s also a great way to beef up a smaller piece so it feels more proportional to the space & surrounding objects.
3. Make them a focal point: A book display is the easiest way to make your favorite coffee table book the star of the show. I also like to add a magnifying glass or this metal pointer to mark a particularly inspiring page.

I buy most of my coffee table books from Amazon. I have a wish list and every few months I add 1-2 to cart when I check out. Another great place to find super budget friendly books is TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Designer books are usually marked down 40% off or so, but be quick to grab them because they sell out fast.
