Last week I sat down and wrote out all the projects I’d like to do around our home. The list is long, friends. I decided to set a goal to finish 6 projects on our to-do list to help it feel more manageable. We’ll worry about the rest next year.
We definitely won’t finish this project this year, or likely even next year. We are however very close to completing the sprinkler install and having top soil and sod delivered. We’re also adding a rock boarder to the entire perimeter of the house to prevent dirt from splashing up on the siding. Finally, we’ll be adding lots of beds that might remain pretty sparse this year. We plan to plant lots of perennials next year. We’ll see though, once we get the beds in I might have no chill and go buy all the plants. Typical. We’re also trying to decide on what type of walkway we want from the driveway to the front door. I’m really hoping to add pavers in a herringbone pattern, but I’m not sure we can tackle a project like this. I’m worried that with the harsh freeze thaw cycle here in the PNW it would start to come apart after a few seasons. Still doing lots of research for this. Our other option is having concrete poured. Either way I’m really, really looking forward to finally having a yard!! For details on our exterior, check this post.
This will be a quick one as I just want to add some paneling behind our console table. There’s nothing to trim around so there won’t be any difficult cuts and the project should be pretty simple. I think it will add so much character and really elevate the space. Super excited about this one.
You all know this room has been a bit of a design challenge for me. I’ve narrowed it down to 3 wallpaper choices, 2 of which aren’t shown here. I still need to settle on a paint color and I’m debating switching the rug and moving the plaid rug to the entry. This whole project will be part of a multi-part series so keep an eye out for that. We’re planning to tackle it mid to late summer.
It’s always felt super unfinished in the laundry. We added the paneling behind the washer and dryer and that gave the space some much needed character. I plan to add a beautiful floral stripe wallpaper to the entire room. You can see it here. Darker wood shelves will go above my desk for more storage, complete with these really pretty brass brackets I found online. Someday we plan to add metal and glass barn doors, but that won’t be in the budget this time around.
The water closet in our primary bathroom is the most boring room in our home. I’d love to wallpaper the entire thing and find a really great vintage rug to warm up the space. This will be a another super quick weekend project that will pack a big punch. I’m leaning towards adding this one. It’s so pretty!
This will be another bigger project I plan to tackle this fall. You can see its a blank canvas with lots of potential. Still very much in the brainstorming phase, but I have some really exciting design elements up my sleeve. Stay tuned!
So there ya have it! 6 projects on our to-do list I’d really like to complete this year. We’ll see how many we check off the list or if we reroute and work on something else (the list is long, haha) either way, I’ll be sharing the progress along the way.
